Does Hunger Threaten Ukraine?

The Ukrainian people who live in the country side and many who have a garden plot or a field plot of land are very industrious.It is not a popular hobby of the Ukrainians but the way of life.They spend much leisure and free time working among their flowers, trees and vegetables. They work there much growing fruit and vergatables and have a nice stock of crop for winter.A lot of people grow vergetables and  fruit for sale in the markets.

As for me I happened to live in a village now. I have 25 pieces of land of a garden plot. The work usually begins in early Spring and finishes in late Autumn.

For many  gardeners, so for me , spring means anxiety, pressure, sometime backaches and leg cramps. It means cleaning up the winter detritus and planning ahead and wondering if it is the right time to plant the right seeds. Do not think it's a hobby. It's hard work and you have to rely only on yourself and weather.

Thanks to industrial development the villages have a lot of farmgrowing tools to work with on the plot. As for me I bought a  cultivator  two years ago and it is a very good help in my work on the plot.I live in a vilage with good natural conditions.There is a river not far and the people have water in their wells to water vergatables and trees on the plots.So I grow over 30types of vegetable crop on my plot:   tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, garlik, cabbage, red beet, carrot, ets. Potatoes occupy 4% of the area under cultivation. I also practise maise,  melon, watermelon and pumpkin growing.  

Over 20 years ago I planted some trees in my garden. So today I enjoy sweet cherries, apples, pears and plums. There are also some bushes and raspberries,  gooseberries and strawberries in my garden.I do not grow crops for sale nevertheless I have some farm surpluses. I do not have a possibility to deliver the goods to the market.

In general  Ukraine has very favourable conditions for the development of agricultural production: fertile soils, tempertely warm climate, a well-developed industry processing agricultural raw materials.

All the principle ares of plant cultivation are: grain and industrial crops, meadow culture, fruit and vegatable raisig.

Animal husbandary and poultry industry has been developed lately and supply the needs of the population.

But today it is early to count the  chickens before they are hatched. I will see what crop I will gather in Autumn. But today I have to toil much like other people in the country.
