Since the end of the Great Patriotic War (the Second World War) in the former USSR on the 9-th of May 1945 passed 68 years.
This war took the lives of about 25 million people in the USSR. Of these, 12.000 of people were killed from Pavlograd, and 6.000 were deported to Germany. It’s difficult to imagine what people have experienced during the war; it’s difficult even to put it in the head. It’s frightful, very frightful and complicated. All this time, our nation remembers the events of that time and honors the memory of the victims.
Every year on May the 8 in our town the ceremonial torch-light procession is held. In the evening sounding words of thanksgiving to veterans (in Pavlograd only 150 people are still alive ), pupils of the 11 classes dance a Waltz and dances of the war years, laying to the Eternal fire a large number of flowers and Wreaths, bring a Fire of Memorial. Memory of the victims is honored with a minute of silence. In the end of the evening thunders a festive firework.
On May 9-th the parade is in procession, which is visited by a great number of people. In the field the detachments kitchens of the Ukrainian Army prepare a soldier's porridge. All day in the main square of our town the shows dedicated to the years of war and war veterans are performed by the children's creative collectives and the celebrities of the Ukrainian variety art.
The songs of the war years are heard everywhere; it brings joy and you feel the anxiety, pain for our great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers who did not return from the war.
We are thankful to our veterans for peace, happy childhood, which they gave to us.
