St. Kievo-Pecherskaya Lavra is one of the outstanding sacred places and sites of the Orthodox world. Not all of us know that Lavra is the part of the huge national Kyevo-Pecherska Lavra history-cultural reserve. It consists on the ancient temples, caves, a lot of museums, belfry and a printing house. The architectural ensemble of the reserve consists of 129 landmarks of the XII-XXth centuries. The monastery was founded in 1051 by the monks Antoniy Lubechesky and Feodosy in the time of Yaroslav The Wise.
As I known Kamianets-Podilskyi  is one of the ancient cities in Ukraine. Thanks to the unique combination of historicfl architecture and landmarks of the river Smotrych “ Old Town” was declared the national historical-architecture reserve. There are  about 200 buildings and monuments of architecture of the XI-XIX th centuries here. The power defense fortifications of the “Old Town”, the fortress bridge, the buildings of different religions create inimitable impression. The greatest treasure is the surviving historical center without the architecture of the XXth century. The fortress structures in Kaminath-Podilsky are known as the excellent example of the best fortifications of East Europe.
The Sofia Park was founded by owner of Uman town and the Poland magnate Stanislaw Potocki in 1796. He ordered to organize the park for his wife Sofia on her birthday and named it in honor of Sofia. The Poland military officer Ludvig Metzel was the architect of project. During the work in the park the local and exotic trees and bushes were planted. Also the park was decorated by the rocks (Levkadska, Tarpeyska), grottoes (“Venus”, ”The Nut”, “Fear and Doubt”), the pavilions (“Flora”, “Pink “), some summer-houses and sculptures. In the park different kinds of trees, water-bodies, rocks, architecture constructions and various views were completed into a single ensemble.

The Kyiv Sofia’s Cathedral is the world known landmark of architecture and monumental art. Chronicles thought that the architect of St. Sofia’s Cathedral was the great Kyiv prince Yaroslav the Wise. This Cathedral had to firmly establish Christianity in the Rus. The St. Sofia’s Cathedral was built in the Ukrainian baroque style. Inside the Cathedral a lot of ancient frescoes and mosaics were saved. Among them the famous mosaic of Virgin Orans (Orthodox Christian depiction of the Virgin Mary).
During the V-Xth centuries Khotyn Fortress was used by tribes of tiverth. The fortress building is connected with Galythsko-Volynskym prince. Hotyn was situated on the important transport routs. It always was payed attention by conquerors. So the prince Volodymyr the Great built here the wooden fortress, which became one of the part of the border fortress. In different times Hotyn belonged to Turkish, Moldavian and the Poland rulers. In  the XXth century the ancient fortress became the favorite place for making films by  producers from all over the world

Hersones Tavriychesky is the name of town which was founded by ancient Greeks more than two thousand years ago in south-western part of Crimea. Nowadays its ruins are one of the sightseeing of Sebastopol. The word “hersones” usually is translated from Greeks as a “peninsula”. The town really is situated on the not big Geraklysky peninsula between two bays. It was named in honor of the military tribe of Tavry. They populated the Crimean Mountains.
The Khortytsa  island is the biggest Island on the Dnipro river. It is situated in the region of the city Zaporizhya. It’s a unique nature and historical complex. Khortytha remembers about great and rich past time  of Ukraine and its protectors- Zaporozhsky Cossacks. The first fortifications on Khortytha were erected by hetman (the prince)Vyshnyvethky in 1557. And in 1663 Cossacks with their leader chieftain Konashevych-Sagaydachny founded the settlement Zaporizka Sich. Many events were here and The Island has got huge historical and cultural meaning.
Wellcome to our beloved and  fine country,  Ukraine.
