Eat Well, Stay Healthy.Ukrainian Cuisine. The Joint Project Work. School#5 t.Pavlograd.      School European Club meeting.  Desember,11.                                                                                                                                                                                      

The Aim of the project is to learn about healthy food, British and Ukrainian cuisine, the way to keep to a balanced diet to get to know about cooking and recipes, describe the process of preparing food. We all know we should be eating a healthier balanced diet and getting more exercise. To make it work, we need to build good habits into our daily routine.We should try not to eat "on the run". This means taking time to plan and prepare healhy meals at home, so that we rely less on fast food, microwave meals, and unhealthy snacs. We should also control the amount of fat, suger,and salt in our diet.

The first farmers in Ukraine were known as the Trypillians. They would grow millet, rye, wheat and barley. With the plentiful wheat came trading routes along the Black Sea coast. The territory of Ukraine became the road that connected Europe, Asia and Arabia.
Ukraine eventually fell under the rule of many countries, but the people of Ukraine managed to maintain their native foods, customs and traditions.The Ukrainian cuisine is very diverse and has a rich history. Ukrainian cuisine has its own originality and uniqueness, although it includes elements of different European cuisines, mainly Eastern European.

The food in Ukraine is loaded with history and has a wide array of dishes. Ukrainian foods are influenced by food from Germany, Turkey, Poland, Lithuania and Russia.

baked into many different kinds of breads. Pork is the national meat and pork fat is commonly used when cooking. It's mostly used for frying but can often be eaten smoked. Dairy products include cottage cheese milk, and baked milk. Desserts include cakes, cookies, sweet breads, which are often made with fruits and honey as well as blueberries, cherries and plums.

Popular Ukrainian snacks usually include varenyky. Varenyky are square- or crescent-shaped dumplings of unleavened dough, stuffed with mashed potato, sauerkraut, cheese, cabbage, meat or with a fruit filling. Varenyky are very popular in Ukraine. Most appreciated traditional dish is pig fat – called ‘salo’. Ukrainians preserve salo with salt as one of their most prized national dish. It is a attribute of Ukrainian cuisine.

Borshch originated in Ukraine as a national soup – although borshch is now an international dish that is also very popular in the surrounding regions (parts of Russia and Romania). Traditionally borshch is served with pampushki and smetana. Main ingredients include specially prepared red beets, potatoes, carrots, beans, celery, fresh or dried mushrooms, chopped cabbage, chopped fresh tomatoes or tomato sauce.

Ukrainian cooking uses black pepper, red pepper, salt, bay leaf, parsley, and dill (usually in spring and summer), garlic and onions.Ukrainian people eat many dishes made from potatoes. For example, deruny are simple Ukrainian potato pancakes. Traditionally, potatoes are coarsely grated into a mixture of egg and flour, and the pancakes are served with sour cream. Onions can also be added in the batter or cooked and served on top.

The neighboring countries have influenced the Ukrainian cuisine, much as the Ukrainian cuisine influences the regional and national cuisines of the neighbors.The Lviv or Lutsk regions of Ukraine, for example, display a cuisine that resembles the Polish cuisine, with pork meat being the main ingredient for most dishes.The north-eastern provinces, such as Sumy, Kharkiv or Luhansk show influences from the Russian cuisine, while the southern part of Ukraine has several recipes that are specific to Moldova and Romania. Dumplings glorified in songs and poems. This dish is credited as the home of Poltava. Dumplings - a dish of boiled dough in the form of squares or balls.
